The Body Shop Challenge

IMG_2913eec

A few weeks ago I was shopping at Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush/ White City and upon arrival at the Body Shop, a sales advisor handed me a little pot and said it was a sample pot that I could fill up with absolutely anything from in the store. Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE the Body Shop and I was literally so excited by this (some may call me sad…). My two cousins who I went shopping with clearly witnessed my happiness and offered me their empty sample pots too as they didn’t want anything. What a great way to try some new products, and the picture is quite deceiving; these pots are actually quite big! The ‘challenge’ here was to limit myself to just 3 things I wanted to try- tough! Here’s what I picked up.

All-In-One BB Cream

I love a BB Cream and I have been wanting to try this one for ages. I already have the Vitamin E Cool BB Cream which comes in just one shade and has a really lovely moisturising effect with a slight coverage. This one is quite different. It is still hydrating, however it comes in 4 different skin tone colours. I picked up ‘medium’. They all look the same though! The best thing about this BB cream is that it transforms to match your skin tone from a white cream. The formula contains capsules which burst with colour when applied to your skin. Once you’ve blended it in, you are left with a really even undetectable finish that leaves your skin looking radiant and feeling nourished. The main thing that I love about BB creams (and this one is no different), is that they are lightweight and not cakey. They give you the protection and nourishment of a balm, still giving you that little bit of coverage so that you’re not completely bare. BB creams are actually good for your skin!

If I could pick out one thing about the product that may pose a problem, it’s that it can be quite oily, so if you have naturally oily skin, less is more in this situation!

Skin Primer – Matte It

I genuinely think I squeezed out the whole sample tube just to fill my pot for this one (lucky me!) Now ever since I discovered the Smashbox Photo-Finish Primers, I have never looked back because they are wonderful. However as a beauty junkie, I try new things! This primer by the Body Shop is one of their best-sellers, so I had to try it. It is a mattifying primer which normally wouldn’t appeal to me because I like my foundation to look dewey, but I thought I’d try it and actually I am impressed by the product. I have an oily t-zone so I found that this primer helped with keeping that under control when using with my foundation. You can apply your makeup very nicely on top of this primer and it gives you a smooth base. It has a nice silky feel which I like. I would recommend this product as it will keep the oily areas on your skin under control without completely creating a matte finish.

Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

I love all things Vitamin E, particularly the range at the Body Shop and I saw that they had released a new nighttime serum/oil to apply just before your night cream. I often add a few drops of Vitamin E oil to my night cream for some added protection, moisturisation and replenishment, and that works great but I thought I’d try this one to see how it worked. I liked this product a lot. It is actually not as oily as you would think too and absorbs quickly, but is still very moisturising and feels lovely on the skin. You put it on under your night cream just before bed and overnight it works on your skin, aids the cell turnover process and stops your skin from drying out overnight so that you wake up with healthy-looking, replenished skin. And it really does just that! If you suffer from dry skin, this product is fantastic because it is something that you can apply before bed and not worry about it, but you know its keeping your skin looking and feeling nourished, and over time you skin won’t get so dry.

Safe to say I liked all products and would recommend them all! I think once my samples pots are done, I’ll be going back in to buy them!

What are your Body Shop favourites?

Woah! I’m reallү digging the template/thеmе off tҺis blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough
to get that “perfect balance” between user frіendliness
and ɑppearance. I must say that you’ve done a fаntastic job with this.
Also, the blog loads extremely fɑѕt for me on Intеrnet
    explοrer. Οutstanding Blog!
