5 Things to Make Time For On a Sunday

5thingssunday

My week is generally pretty hectic with that task of going to work and commuting etc (ever heard of such a thing?!), and so as they say… I ‘live for the weekends’. To be honest there is only really one thing I’ve started to live for on the weekends now, and that is BED. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my job, and I love blogging, but I’ve been a University student for 5 years… I need some time to adjust!!

On Saturday I like to get all my errands done and of course be sociable! But Sundays, for me, have to be totally chill. I like to mentally prepare myself for Monday morning, after all, who enjoys a Monday morning? Here are 5 things you should definitely try and make time for on a sunday.

1. Makeup brush cleaning

By this I mean a thorough cleanse of the brushes. During the week, makeup brushes get used so often, and if you’re anything like me, they are used quickly, without taking great care of them! I generally like to have a makeup-free weekend and Sunday in particular is a good chance to really clean the brushes properly, leaving them to dry all day, and ready for the week ahead. If you want a good, thorough cleansing technique, check out my homemade brush cleansing post here!

2. Oil hair

I’ve mentioned before on my blog that I oil my hair once a week. And I usually do this on a sunday, so that I can wash my hair in the evening ready for the beginning of the week. If I’m not going anywhere, I like to put oil in my hair after lunch, and lounge about with it in all day, giving it a nice wash in the evening. Oiling your hair once a week is so good for your hair, allowing it to stay nourished, healthy, thick and shiny. Particularly now as the temperature is dropping, protecting your hair from the harsh weather conditions is so important. My weekly hair oiling routine consists of a mixture of coconut oil and Dabur Amla oil (Indian gooseberry oil).

3. Bathtime and skin TLC

The week is full of quick showers and simple facial routines and personally I don’t invest enough time during the week looking after my skin. I’m starting to get better though, and I’m back to exfoliating and doing a face mask twice a week and I’m using a cleansing oil to remove my makeup at the end of the day, instead of using cleansing wipes. A sunday is a great opportunity to give yourself an indulging facial and also a nice relaxing bath accompanied by some scented candles and a book. Remembering to give yourself a chance to relax is often difficult for many, however it is essential for good health and wellbeing. You’ll really start to see the difference in your busy week if you’ve given yourself some real time for some well-deserved R&R!

4. The mani-pedi

Painting your nails for the week is a standard procedure on a Sunday! Removing your old chipped polish, giving yourself a good shape up with the nail file and re-applying that new colour. Therapeutic to say the least! Don’t forget your feet too… they always need some TLC. Check out my foot care routine here. Being the maiden of multi-tasking that you are, do it whilst watching your favourite show on Netflix!

5. Get organised

In true Libra style, I have to physically train myself to be organised. I can be quite scatty and indecisive albeit getting everything done… eventually. So I like to plan things a lot and get things ready in advance (the hoard of sticky notes do not lie). This is something that I’ve had to learn to do quite a bit since starting work and only having 45 mins to get up, get dressed and get out the door. I actually pack my bag the night before AND choose my outfit- woah!! I also love using Sundays to plan my upcoming blog posts and also ‘catch up with my correspondence’ as Rachel from Friends would say. I once read, ‘learn the beauty of being organised, and you’ll have all the time in the world to enjoy your beautiful life’, and without unnecessarily planning to a tee, this is so true!

Have a lovely week beautiful people!

Love Nimisha

xoxo
