Best Beauty Buys of 2015

It’s about that time to look back at some of my favourite beauty purchases from 2015. Being a hoarder of makeup it was hard to pick out my absolute favourites from last year, given that I even did a massive Sephora haul in New York in April, however I’ve narrowed it down to those that impressed me the most and that were bit different.

So starting with primers/bases two products in particular really impressed me. The first is the Two-Faced Shadow Insurance for eyes. I first saw this product in Kaushal’s beauty videos so decided to buy it when I was in New York, and have never looked back really. I was so used to using the Urban Decay Primer Potion which is also amazing, but I think I’m going to stick with this one for a while because its so good! Next the Stila One Step Corrector which to me acts like a primer after moisturiser and before makeup. It’s a 3 in 1 corrector and really does brighten the skin and reduce the look of blemishes. Love it!

I was never big on concealers but in 2015 I found some right ol’ gems. Firstly the Nars Creamy Concealer changed my life (okay maybe bit of an exaggeration) but it really changed the way I did my makeup, and helps me conceal my dark circles brilliantly. I love the texture of it and it doesn’t crease which is fabulous. Then, a bit later in the year I discovered the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and its honestly one of the best I have ever tried. I love the applicator and it conceals and highlights really well. Absolutely fantastic for a drug store product.

For face finishing touches some newcomers really caught my eye last year. When in New York, I came across the limited edition Becca bronzer. Unfortunately they don’t stock it anymore but it is lush! Becca bronzers are so pigmented and leave a beautiful shimmer on the skin. You only need to put a tiny bit on your brush and it goes along way, so I’m happy about that seeing as it’s no longer in stock! Another newbie last year was the Nars dual-intensity blush. This works in two ways; it can go on dry and also wet where the colour intensifies a little. I particularly love the highlighter in this, lightly applied to the high points of your face (using a fan brush). A late love of mine in 2015 was the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Killer Cheekbones¬†which is a favourite of… everyones. The highlight in this duo for me is the best.

Still on face, I think my most used, favourite purchase of 2015 was the Laura Mercier Contouring Palette. I am in LOVE with this and adore the cream colours. They blend so nicely and leave a really natural contour. I’m not so hot on the highlighter, as I find it to shimmery whilst being creamy and you have to apply it really carefully. But apart from that, it is divine! On to the face powder of the year… the Lily Lolo face powder which is so lightweight and finishes off the makeup look so nicely without making it look charcoal-like. It gives a lovely flawless finishes and gets rid of any excess shine.

Lastly on to lips. I’m always buying new lipsticks because obviously I just don’t have enough, but in 2015 three particular lip colours made it to my most used. Firstly the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Aria is stunning. It is just like a lip stain and really doesn’t budge. I love this colour, it’s like a dark purple-y pink and is not too overpowering. Secondly MAC ‘Fresh Brew’ was one of my favourite MAC lipstick purchases last year. It’s a paler, more grey nude colour and is quite sheer so looks really natural. I love wearing this and a clear gloss over it. Lastly, towards the end of the year i splurged on the Dior Addict ‘Not Shy’ lipstick which I felt guilty for until I wore it to my Christmas party, and then the next event and the next. It is a gorgeous pinky nude colour with a gloss.

So there you have it! My top beauty products of 2015! What were yours?

Love Nimi

xoxo
