The Best and Worst from the Oscars 2016

The Oscars… a night for beauty, glam, poise, emotion and a celebration of amazing motion picture arts. This year’s Academy Awards came with plenty of controversy over diversity which Chris Rock addressed in his opening monologue quite nicely by pointing out the obvious… that the show was going to go on anyway regardless of who boycotted the show, and of course FINALLY Leonardo DiCaprio one his first ever Oscar, completed deserved and followed by an incredible speech. But one of the major talking points from each and every award show is the red carpet fashion and who wore what. Here’s a quick run down of my personal best and worst from the 88th Academy Awards.

The Best

Jennifer Garner in Atelier Versace with Rene Caovilla heels.

Naomi Watts in Armani coupled with a stunning Bulgari necklace. A great dress for her slim figure.

Olivia Munn in this gorgeous orange Stella McCartney number. Coupled with the perfect lip colour and simple, swept back hair do.

I think Lady Gaga looks stunning in this brandon Maxwell dress. Her hairstyle and natural makeup complete the whole look.

Jennifer Lawrence’s hair and makeup here are perfection. The Dior Haute couture dress is not my favourite but actually really compliments her.

Probably my favourite of the night was this stunning Zuhair Murad gown worn by Priyanka Chopra.

Rachel McAdams looks unreal in this August Atelier dress with the high slit and low back. The colour was also perfect on her.

Some love this, some hate it. Personally I think this Louis Vuitton gown looks great on Alicia Vikander. It completely suits her however my only qualm is that her hairstyle makes her look like the Disney princess Belle.

Charlize Theron in a gorgeous crimson Dior Haute gown. I didn’t like her hair so much, but the crimson colour looks gorgeous on her.

The Worst

This was definitely the worst dress of the night in my opinion. This Marchesa dress is all over the place and I think Heidi Klum could do so much better.

Kerry Washington had one of the best beauty looks of the night for me, however I’m not a fan of this Atelier Versace dress. The top half doesn’t sit well and looks oversized, however the white bottom half with the thigh high split saves it… a little.

I love Kate Winslet. But what is she wearing?? Her makeup is flawless and she’s got the beauty side down but this Ralph Lauren gown is an absolute no.

Amy Poehler in an Andrew GN dress didn’t do it for me. The style of the dress is actually quite nice on her and suits her figure well but the design on the dress makes it look like a rug.

This Marchesa dress on Isla Fisher looks bit like a shower curtain, and I just don’t think it is Oscar-esque enough.

People have really mixed views on this dress. I’ve heard some people say its genius… I wouldn’t go that far, but it wasn’t the best dress of the night. This Armani Priv√© dress on Cate Blanchett was definitely original, and at a closer look, really suits her.

What were your best and worst looks?

Love Nimisha

xoxo
