You Can Only Be You

In a world where there are many people trying to be something they’re not… the best thing you can do is be yourself.

I think all of us can remember a time where we have had to act differently to our true selves. Maybe it’s a work situation, or a social situation, or maybe there’s been a time where we really just couldn’t be our true self. It’s weird because people always say, just be yourself.

The thing is, at the end of the day, you really only can just be yourself. Part of being truly happy is learning to accept who you are, being confident in that, and allowing yourself to actually express yourself. Don’t be sorry for being who you are.

There is a point to my post…

I often get asked what inspires some of the content in my posts, or what sparked me to write about something. The truth is, I literally just write about what is me. Often I’ll come across a situation in my day which will get me thinking, and I’ll start writing something. I have quite a creative mind so ideas are constantly running through my head. At the same time, this is a personal blog, and I just sort of write about whatever I want to really. As time has gone on, I’ve become so much more comfortable with just being myself on this blog, and it’s allowed me to enjoy it so much more.

Pretending to be something you’re not, or acting a certain way can actually be just really draining. It’s more productive and invigorating not having to put on an act and just allowing you to be yourself and accept that that might float some peoples boats, and might not for others. Not your problem though; don’t let anyone make you feel like you can’t be yourself.

We often don’t get many opportunities to make an impact, but when we do, we should make it by being ourselves. Take chances, take risks, think outside the box, do something different, but just be you.

I’ll leave you with a famous quote by Oscar Wilde- “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”.
