Autumn will shortly be arriving! Not that we’ve had much of a summer over here in the UK! But it’s time to start preparing ourselves for that mild and rainy season and also help our body’s recover from the summer; all the boozing, all the eating and all the holiday-ing. I love a good detox and cleanse and the easiest way to start this is with an infused water enriched with all natural goodness.
I’ve got 3 infused detox water recipes for getting over that summer bloat, shaking those excess calories and boosting your immune system. Try one for 7 days and you’ll notice the difference. So what’s so great about them?
Boil some water, and to it add slices of lemon, ginger, a few leaves of fresh mint and about a tablespoon of honey. Leave to infuse for a couple of minutes and until the water is at a drinkable temperature. Drink this when it is warm to feel the benefits.
This drink is packed with anti-oxidants and natural nutrients that help ease the stomach, aid digestion and remove toxins and excess bloat.
Infuse a green tea bag in boiling water and mix in a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Allow to infuse and cool slightly before drinking.
When I was out in Zanzibar, I went on a spice tour and they told me about the power of cinnamon in weight loss as it lowers body fat and is a very powerful antioxidant. Combined with honey and green tea (more natural ingredients often used in weight loss), this infused water speeds up metabolism and helps burn belly fat.
In boiled water, slightly cooled, add a teaspoon of turmeric powder, lemon and ginger and let this infuse together.
You’ll get a nice orange looking drink with plenty of immune boosting properties. Lemons are packed with Vitamin C, turmeric has one of the most antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and ginger has fantastic antimicrobial properties. All three ingredients work well to fight off infection and keep your body healthy for when foreign bodies start to invade.
Give them a try and see the difference they make!
