Vitamin Boosters To Get Over January

Can you believe we are already in February?! January was FREEZING (and February isn’t feeling like a sizzling grill at the moment either)! If you’re anything like me, you’ll start the year ill… ill from the cold, from going out too much, from not sleeping, and from worrying about how you’re going to get through dry January when there’s at least 6 peoples birthdays! I was determined to start the year fit and healthy and one of my new years resolutions was to eat healthier and just generally ‘cut the crap’ out of my lifestyle. I’ve been on abit of a blender/smoothie hype since the start of the year, so I thought I’d share some drink recipes that I consider vitamin boosters for those fragile moments!

Cold & Flu

All the ingredients in this mix make for a tasty kick of vitamin C to help boost your immune system and fight off that nasty cold. Apple has antiviral and anti-oxidant properties so helps to fight infections, ginger is one of my power health ingredients (I put it in everything!) and has anti-inflammatory and body warming properties, while carrots and oranges are rich in vitamins A and C to strengthen the immune system. The ultimate infection-fighting mix!

Detox

Every morning I have detox water, which is hot water with lemon and sometimes add mint and ginger too. I genuinely feel the difference when I stop drinking it! Lemon has so many benefits to your overall health which I’ve raved about here. But for detox-ing, it’s great for the digestive system, for cleansing and for hydration. Mint adds that refreshing flavour and aids in digestion and settles the stomach well. Similarly ginger is good for settling the stomach and cleansing the system while beetroot is really good for liver cleansing so if you failed at dry Jan… this should help you out a little!

Energy

We all need an energy boost at the start of the year to help us recover from the holiday season and also to help us get over those January blues. Pineapple has a high manganese content which helps with boosting energy as well as a high vitamin C content also boosting mood and energy. Ginger stimulates the release of adrenaline which boosts energy which is why you often find people doing ginger shots instead of caffeine shots, and oranges give you a natural sugar rush due to its sweetness and high vitamin C and potassium content.

So now theres no excuse to be ill, tired or unhealthy! Enjoy!

Love Nimisha

xoxo
